AtlasVoice Content Selector: Verify Your Content, Then Go Live (Staging → Live Guide)
AtlasVoice includes a Staging → Live workflow and a visual Content Selector so you can confirm exactly what your text to speech player will read aloud before it appears to visitors. This guide explains Staging vs Live mode, how to verify your content, and how to Go Live.
Staging vs Live: what is the difference?
- Staging (default for new installs): the audio player is hidden from visitors and no audio is generated. You can preview and verify your content first.
- Live (Production): the player is shown to visitors and audio plays. You switch to Live with one click once you are happy with what is read.
Why verify before going live?
By default the player reads your main content, but every theme is different. Verifying first ensures the player reads the right section and skips menus, sidebars, and footers — so listeners never hear the wrong content.
Step 1 — Open the AtlasVoice Content Selector
Go to AtlasVoice → Settings and click Pick Visually on the Global scope. A sample post opens in a new tab with the AtlasVoice Selector panel, where you choose which part of the page is read.
Step 2 — Preview the content
Open Preview Content on the right of the picker to see exactly what will be read aloud. Set the content region if needed. On AtlasVoice Pro you can also skip areas, HTML tags, and phrases (for example sidebars, captions, or “Read more”).
Step 3 — Verify across posts
Use Test rule across posts to run your rule against several random posts at once. This catches brittle selectors that only break on certain templates, so you can fix them before going live.
Step 4 — Go Live
When you are happy, switch to Live. There are two ways:
- Admin bar: click the AtlasVoice status dot at the top of the screen, then Go Live. The dot is yellow in Staging and turns green in Production.
- Setup wizard: on the final step, choose Go Live now (or Stay in Staging to keep verifying).
To switch back at any time, open the same admin-bar menu and choose Revert to staging.
New installs vs existing sites
- New installs start in Staging so you verify before publishing.
- Existing sites that update keep working as before — they are automatically set to Live, so your player and audio never disappear after an update.
Frequently asked questions
My player is not showing on the site — why?
Your site is most likely in Staging. The player is intentionally hidden until you Go Live. Verify your content, then switch to Live from the admin-bar AtlasVoice menu.
Can I still preview while in Staging?
Yes. Use Pick Visually and Preview Content from the Settings tab to hear and verify your content while in Staging.
